stripes and florals, together at last

I personally love nothing more than dappled light through trees, hitting lovely simple table centre pieces. The best thing about this table setting? I think it must be the seersucker stripe runner, surely? The only thing better than that is mis-matched vintage floral napkins...

.....and the only thing that could make this even better would be vintage crockery...

spring! I can't wait for spring!

Hands up who is over winter!? I am...
Dreaming about spring flowers in the garden and beautiful colourful table decorations like this image above.
sigh.

bows? yes please!

Um, excuse me. Does anyone out there love bows? Do any of you bow lovers think that this idea is amazing? So very simple!

jugs, teapots and typewriters

Hello my lovelies! Im sorry that I have been a bit slack this week, it's been all go go go since Polka Dot Bride did a feature on a vintage party. It was amazing to have such a huge response!! Anyway, i'm back now and I just thought these shots were too lovely to ignore. Loving the granny teapot as a vase and whimsical flowers.

balloon amazingness

Remember when balloons used to just be the crappy ones that your mum would buy in packs of 100 from Woolies and you would blow them all up individually and hang them from your front gate so that all your guests would know where the party was at? Well times have changed. Balloons now arrive at your door full of helium with awesome metallic tassels and coloured streamers dripping from them (but only in america). amazing. xx

a drive-in movie in your backyard

Over at Design*Sponge, they are always showing lots of inspiring makeovers and events. This backyard  drive-in party really took my fancy though. Just hoist an old white sheet up in your back yard, borrow a projector and some quilts and pillows, and there you have it - pretty much the perfect vintage party of all time, complete with red striped paper straws and popcorn. xx

flowers and paintings

Jamie keeps on telling me that this is not a blog about flowers, but a blog about crockery.... and I know that he's right, but some thing's are just not so black and white. I just couldn't resist posting this image from oncewed. I just love love love it. Nothing more to be said. xx

not just for eating from..

In my ever growing obsession with vintage crockery, i stumbled upon this amazing wall collage comprised of vintage plates. It is amazing. Sadly, I cannot find for the life of me where i have sourced this image, so to the owner of this incredible shot, I'm sorry that I have not credited you correctly, but thankyou for sharing in cyberspace, this pretty idea. xx

once again, once wed

Once again once wed shows us how the simple things in life are often the best. Using jars for drinks and recycled bottles for vases. Also loving the use of bottles for name place settings and of course the feather on the lapel. So simple and effective. xx

martha stewart

Is it wrong for me to love Martha Stewart? Her website is just so full of handy household hints, and clever ways to make the mundane seem beautiful. Moreover, where else can you find a plethora of crafty projects, complete with instructions and templates? I don't care that she was imprisoned - it was just house arrest wasn't it? I think that we should all celebrate and admire the woman who I'm sure is responsible for single handedly inspiring the craft revolution. xx

PS. Jamie keeps of reminding me that this is a vintage crockery blog, not a flower blog- but i just couldn't help my self with this shot, found here. xx

vintage party inspiration

In my mind, the best parties will always have cheese, cake, long tables, flowers and skinny ties. The above image is via a cup of jo - Im not quite sure about the butterflies? xx

vintage wallpaper and vintage postcards

Look at this beautiful flower arrangement with the gorgeous floral wallpaper background! This colour combination really makes my heart swoon- and I also love the use of vintage postcards.

This image was taken from an interview with Chelsea Fuss from frolic found via design*sponge.

a spring wedding

I stumbled across this incredible wedding over at my new favourite blog junkaholique. Im loving the colourful spring flowers, the vintage bunting and the long banquet tables. The blog is definitely worth checking out for pretty interiors and vintage inspiration. xx

community halls

My wedding reception was held in a beautiful 100 year old community hall in Northern New South Wales. While i would have loved to have huge crepe paper pom poms hanging from the ceiling (like in the second image) it was pretty difficult to hang things from the roof because it was just too high! xx

vintage decorations

I have shown some other images of this wedding in a previous post (here), but i just couldn't resist showing you how pretty the combination of vintage doilies and vintage plates is. Just perfect combined with scattered jars and candles. xx

a crafty wedding

One of my favourite craft blogs is hello sandwich. The very clever ebony (aka hello sandwich) is an amazing crafter and very talented graphic designer. This cute wedding was profiled on her blog here. I am especially loving the cut out bird name places. Just awesome. xx

vintage button table numbers

I have a bit of an obsession with old buttons, so it is no surprise that i love these table numbers made from simple old wooden frames, with numbers created from vintage buttons. Also loving the floral crockery, jars of flowers and old fashioned champagne glasses. xx

striped paper straws

For my wedding I searched high and low for these striped paper straws. In the end I had to bring them in from the states. A vintage party currently holds stock of these vintage inspired striped paper straws- available in red/white, blue/white and grey/white (pictured above). Etsy store will soon be set up, but in the mean time, if you would like to purchase some straws for your next vintage party email me. xx

P.S. Happy birthday Georgie. xx

a country table setting

I'm a little lost for words to describe how much I am loving these table settings from Dave and Alarna's wedding. The photographs are taken by the incredible Brisbane based Jonas Peterson, who knows just how to capture any vintage party. Loving all the vintage props and vintage plates (funnily enough, i have a few of the plates pictured in my own vintage crockery collection!). xx
P.S. Happy Valentines Day
